The new bullets in password fields are ugly. I prefer the old asterisks, as, I'm sure, do others. Others may prefer something else. A pref to override the password masking character would give everyone what they want. If there are performance issues, just read it on program startup. It's not something that will likely be changed frequently.

Alternately, a way to override the character via userContent.css or userChrome.css would be acceptable.
