On one only email I checked "return receipt" in order to confirm mail was received and now I cannot uncheck it. I have to uncheck it on each and every new email composition

What is your setting under Options | Advanced | General > Return receipts... "When sending messages, always request a rr" ?

Doh, somehow I seem to have read only the description, not the bug summary...

In what way did you set it for the one mail? Can you reproduce without extensions?

Opened the composition window, selected option and checked the "return receipt" for the one off email. Didnt bother with Tools/options/advanced/RR as this was a once only.
Not sure what you mean by "reproduce without extension"??

I meant, if you go to Tools > Add-ons and disable all extensions (or simply run thunderbird.exe -safe-mode), can you still reproduce?

And if you go to Options | Advanced and check look for mail.request.return_receipt in the Config Editor, is it correctly set to false?

Been to tools/addons & disabled british english dictionary, & English australian dictionary, closed firefox restarted, check on RR stiil remains.
Started vista in safe mode unchecked RR and restarted firefox, the check remians in place.
Been to options/tools/advanced/config editor, it shows

Reporte the issue is still present also with last update 2.0.0.22?

If it is yes, could you try to see if it still happens with
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-comm-1.9.1/ ?

- this bug has no response from reporter for 5 months
- this bug was reported against TB 2.0, which I suppose we're no longer supporting
- this worksforme on Windows XP in Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20091229 Lightning/1.0pre Shredder/3.0.1pre (I sometimes requested return receipts in the past and never had the problems of comment 0)

Can someone check this with a 3.0 release build on Vista?

Aureliano, can we then resolve this worksforme?
