running Gecko/20081016 SeaMonkey/2.0a2pre nightly build on WinXP

Paste just doesn't work in email composer.
This makes email composer unusable.

In a plain text email composer window, ctrl-V does nothing.
Right clicking, and selecting Paste from the context menu does nothing.

Paste works OK in SM browser window, just not in email composer.

Worked OK in nightly trunk build from 20080930.

I don't know if this is a SM bug or mail/news core.
I'm guessing mail/news core. But I'm requesting blocking of both TB and SM
just to cover all the bases. :)
Flags: blocking-thunderbird3.0b1?

I restarted SM, and then it worked.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Uninitialized variable, maybe?
Possibly related: bug 459205 (for copy).
Version: 1.9.0 Branch → Trunk
Yes, it's possible that the problem is in copy rather than in paste.
The next time I see this, I will try to copy in other programs and then
paste in the mail composer.
The first time I experienced this, I was trying to copy the subject
from the subject text box in the mail compose window and paste that text
into the message body.

The second time I experienced this, I was trying to copy text from the
text of a message in the 3-pane main mail window, and paste it into the
text box in the mail compose window. Then I tried going to another window
(another program) and copying text there, then pasting it into the message
compose window, and that worked. Then I retried to copy text from the
main mail window and paste it into the message compose window, and that
worked, too. Something about copying in the other program and then pasting
into the message composer fixed the problem, so that I could no longer
reproduce it in that composer window.

So, I don't know if the problem is conclusively in copy or in paste or ??
Now, I'm experiencing this with ctrl-shift-V (paste as quotation).
That's a hard failure. I've tried all sorts of copying and pasting
from other programs, and no go. Can't paste with ctrl-shift-V.
This is actually just one aspect of the busted focus of bug 459949
