I need to know *where* to get the latest java plugin before i can include it. And why is this a bugzilla bug, when we can't ship the latest java plugins with mozilla?
leaf..what is the update on this? Are the latest bits that george provided in the M17 branch ? Pls update this bug and let me know.
yes, the bits were updated last week.

I think that there is a packaging problem here. Plugin dates still say 06/22 ...which seems old. Can you pls check?
are you *sure* you're not installing older versions from your local disk? The version in the staging area which should be getting packaged is july 28th.
Hey you two: let me know if I can step in and help. You know how to reach me.
we've got the bits, i think there's just some screwyness in the packager or installer. shrir and i will track it down.
Reassigning this to sameer to take a look. Files from the 'jre13p.zip' do not seem to update the installation and 'plugins' folder under seamonkey installation. Would want nsbeta2 consideration on this one. cc: leger

Sean's Win32 installer code has not changed since 07/28 per bonsai. (And not surprising since he's on vacation!) The possibility that the JRE 1.3 patch zip archive is not being read correctly by libjar is ruled out since I rezipped the archive on a Linux box, ran it through today's installer, and it still doesn't work. Shrirang is investigating whether the patching process was always broken.
Just verified that the patch is not being applied even on the 07/27 build. This has existed for sometime now. Revoking nsbeta2 nomination. Reassigning back to Sean since he is the author and maintainer of the Win32 installer.

This is bug 1918 in bugscape.
Somewhere between 06/13 and 07/16(the earliest build available after 06/13 on sweetlou ftp site), the jre patch file was renamed from jre13patch.zip to jre13p.zip. That's why the installation script did not decompress the patch file..my guess. This needs to be fixed asap.

This is a duplicate of bugscape 1918, I'll close this when I close that since duplicates across systems don't work.
