User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.3) Gecko/2008092417 Firefox/3.0.3
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b1pre) Gecko/20081006 Shredder/3.0a3

When creating a new filter in Thunderbird 2.0.x, in the "Perform these actions" section, "Move Message to", in the next listbox, you can type the name of the destination folder to select it (i.e. "Software"). This doesn't work in Shredder, it ignores the keystrokes.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Create new message filter.

Tab to "Move Message to" and then into the "Folders" drop-down box and the folder name is highlighted.

Start typing.

Actual Results:
Nothing happens.

Expected Results:
Folder name should change to match typing.

Folder selection (name) should change to match typing, ala. Thunderbird 2.0.x.

for people heavy into filters, I bet they tend to have lots of folders, and would love to have this regression fixed.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=498773&action=diff fixed the sorting issue for "Recent folders". Perhaps some aspects of that patch can be applied here

But there exists also request (bug 466247) to change this flat list of folders into a hierarchical tree. Matching while typing probably wouldn't work there.
I have got this problem on SM 2.6b after new instalation of SM due to XP to W7 transition. I have done the backup and restoration of the profile by mozbackup and after than I moved the mail folders to different location, but all necessary changes were done and I receive and send the emails as before.
But after that I see my old filters, but when trying to set the MOVE or COPY folder for the message filter, it remains to be white without any possiblity to change it. I have tried to delete the msgFilterRules.dat and create new filter, thinking that there was something wrong, but it didn't help.
I have found, that the reasion is here different, it is the Bug 984948 of the SM 2.26 beta version.
Summary: Message Filter: can't type in destination folder for move → In Message Filter, typing doesn't autocomplete destination folder name
