Migrating all our wiki data into the inventory app, and doing bulk updates of machine details in the inventory app, has been painful. Its much faster to have someone with sql access to inventory app db doing direct changes. We tried writing all the changes that would need to be sql-manipulated in a bug once before (bug#442828), but it quickly got long, hard-to-follow and probably slower then doing it manually one-by-one.
Instead could we schedule a meeting with folks from RelEng, and someone from IT who has access to make those sql changes with us live on the spot. We could then make changes verbally explaining, and reviewing, as we go?
To start with a suggested time - how about at the start of the next RelEng meeting, 1pm PST on Tuesday 28th Oct?

How about I just make a bulk update feature. My idea is to:
* Stick a check box next to each system
* User clicks bulk update
* View would be pretty much the same as modify, but with a list of all the systems they are modifying
* User clicks save all
Would something like that solve your problem?

I'll buy multiple pints if you do this with one caveat:
It should be possible to exclude fields from being updated - for cases where most details are the same, but one or two aren't.
Deal? :)

I've created a bulk update feature. Let me know if you come across any problems with it.
