User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b1) Gecko/20081007 Firefox/3.1b1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b1) Gecko/20081007 Firefox/3.1b1 If I have only a single tab left there's no close button on the tab. (I guess this is a change in the way it works) However, if I right click the tab I can choose "Close Tab" this surprisingly also closes the browser. (I guess this is another change to the way it works. A surprising one though) Anyway, the bug I'm reporting is the next time you open firefox, it remembers the last tab that was closed (when the browser also closed) and restores it even when I specifically wanted to get rid of it in the first place... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a few tabs with websites (make sure theres only one firefox window open) 2. Close all but one with the close buttons on the tabs 3. Right click on the last tab and select "Close Tab" (this also closes the window) 4. Now reopen Firefox, the last tab is restored. (I have "Always show tab bar" turned on) Actual Results: The last tab I originally wanted to close is restored. Meaning I have to close it again. Expected Results: Either the "close tab" should not close the window also (leaving a blank tab, or no tab) or the tab should not be restored the next time we open Firefox. (Personally I'd prefer the first one)
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b2pre) Gecko/20081023 Minefield/3.1b2pre When I test this with a new profile with default settings it does not restore the tab after a restart. With the setting "When Minefield starts show my tabs and windows from last time" it shows a blank tab after a restart. So try safe-mode to rule out extension influences.
Version: unspecified → Trunk
I've tried safe-mode and deleting the profiles (in "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data", are there others?) but I still get the same behavior. (Firefox 3.0 is also installed but it is not running.) I think it's simply remembering what tabs I had open when I closed Firefox down. This was fine until the functionality was added for closing down Firefox when the last tab is closed rather than going to a blank page as before.
C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\j6au9159.default should be the default location. And deleting your profile for a test is unnecessary. Just rename the Mozilla folder temporarily or make an additional profile. http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile
Creating a new profile fixed the problem. Let me know if you'd like any more information on this.
