gmail puts the trash folder under [Gmail]
i tried to modify the prefs.js file as instructed to do this, but apparently did not do it correctly because thunderbird is still referencing my trash where it was.
i would really like to have a single trash folder - and since gmail dictates where it should be i would like it to be there

Not that Gmail encourages using the trash folder... (read <http://lifehacker.com/software/geek-to-live/turn-thunderbird-into-the-ultimate-gmail-imap-client-314574.php>)
... but it does work fine. I know it's not easy on 2.0, but for 3.0 there the nightly builds have UI to set the trash folder.
