I just looked at the link at the bottom of litmus pages for "ungrouped"; Yipes!
This list has gotten out of hand. I could triage the list and maybe find a few test cases that are truly orphaned and should be attached to an existing subgroup. But it's not worth the time or effort.
Anyway, if you would, please delete all these test cases from the db so it doesn't have to be done by hand.
Going forward, I'm soon to put processes in place for reviewing unclear and failed results. I'll also add some sort of regular checking of this list to make sure it doesn't return to this sort of state.

Do we necessarily want to delete them? is there a situation where people are creating them but not grouping them cause they dont know? Or another solution is create a "Default or Needs Reviewed" bucket, and review them later?

I don't think so. I think there can be many reasons why a test would be ungrouped temporarily.

By product would be helpful. Currently I'm not aware of any way to query for ungrouped tests

Hmm, the link I refer to in the initial report is no longer there. However, anyone with access to the Litmus db can query it directly to generate a list of ungrouped test cases. That list could be reviewed and all unneeded ones removed. But ungrouped test case are not really hurting anything. The concern I guess is that there are ungrouped ones that were meant to be put somewhere, but somehow overlooked or forgotten. But it would take far less time to just remove all the ungrouped test cases and risk loosing a few wanted ones (test cases that could just be rewritten and properly added to groups) than to sort through and try to figure out where all the ungrouped test cases belong.
At this point it's probably not necessary to cleanup. Prior to Litmus2, however, these orphaned test cases need to be cleared out so they don't get imported to the next version.
Summary: delete all "ungrouped" test cases. → delete all "ungrouped" test cases prior to import to Litmus next.
