Go to the bookmark library by clicking 'bookmarks', 'organize bookmarks', 'tags'.
right click, then delete or drag to recycle any tag from either pane and nothing happens. Tags were made with SumbleUpon, but disabling or deleting StumbleUpon doesn't help. Tags can be renamed and copied. Copies of tags can be deleted but not the originals. Deletion of tags should also be an option in 'clear personal history' as they are that. Tried the add-on 'Hide unvisited 3' with added some privacy from tags showing up in the location bar, but was no help in the bookmark library.

The right click menu did not grey out 'cut' and 'delete' but these choices are inactive anyways.

In the discussion pages, users were only successful by uninstalling FireFox, reloading and rebuilding their customizations from scratch. If I have to delete Firefox to clear my personal history, I won't be reinstalling it!

Steps to Reproduce:
1.click bookmarks
2.click organize bookmarks
3.click tags
4.try and delete any or all tags or even the tag bar
5.using 'clear personal data' does not delete tags either.
Actual Results:  
May have to creat tags first with SumbleUpon or other add-on. Mozilla discussion groups showed the same problem with other add-on tag creators.

Expected Results:  
The tags still exist, hence personal data not erased.

tags are bookmarks related, not history related, when you tag an history item it is added as a bookmark. So Clear Private Data should NOT in every case, remove tags.

Hwv, what you're asking for is bug 429350, fixed for 3.1
