Address books should have an additional description field to identify some more information of the meaning of the addresses in this book. This field should be edited in the properties dialog of the address book and be shown as a popup window (control hint) when moving the mouse over the address book name.

Have a look at bug 266891, what you want may be covered there already (I don't see anything there on additional popup/tooltips on mouse-over though).

Thanks, that request seems to lead to a complete redesign of the address book feature, which I appreciate of course. But I couldn't find any kind of description field on the address book level, only for the addresses themselves. And well, the mouse over event was just an idea, no essential feature :-)

Nice idea, Chris. We're somewhat waiting for a completely new AB, but in the meantime, this would be a nice little improvement which is obviously useful. Not sure what it would take to implement, or how hard that is.

Not quite: bug 266891 wants more fields for the *contacts* inside the AB, whereas this bug wants a description attached to the entire AB itself, and hence displayed as a tooltip describing the AB where appropriate.
