User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; pt-BR; rv:1.9.0.3) Gecko/2008092417 Firefox/3.0.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; pt-BR; rv:1.9.1b1pre) Gecko/20081006 Lightning/1.0pre Shredder/3.0a3 (and 2.0.0.17) I work with TB 2.0.0.17 and 3.0a3 with IMAP and LOCAL SERVER. When my EXTERNAL link is up, all functions works fine, but when my external link down, I can´t send messages. My LOCAL Mail Server, has a SMTP (Linux/QMAIL), and on TB, the SMTP server is declared an IP number (I´m not using names), so, when my external link is down, I can PING the local server, and all services is ON, but I can´t queue messages on Local Mail Server with TB (some users still using Outlook, and these users can queue mail messages on the server). In the Local WebMail interface, I can queue messages too. I think that I would queue messages (using an local IP number in SMTP configuration) but it is not possible Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Configure TB with IMAP (mail server is Local Server with Local IP) 2.When the External link is down, I can´t send messages or even queue on the server 3.In SMTP configuration, I have a LOCAL IP (of my local mail Server) 4.Outlook Users can queue messages Actual Results: Not queue messages Expected Results: Queue messages on the local mail server SMTP port 25, relay is open to Local users with Local IP
Version: unspecified → 2.0
Thunderbird doesn't know what happens on the SMTP server with the message. If they are queued or not doesn't matter for Thunderbird. Please attach a SMTP log : https://wiki.mozilla.org/MailNews:Logging
Yesterday, my link was down all day long, but today is up (until now). In early morning, I tried to reproduce de problem, but works fine (TB logging was ON) I can´t turn off my mail server link today (many users connected), so, could you please leave this possible bug open ? I´ll try to stop my link in the noon today. Thanks
my external link is down today, and the problem appears again. I turned ON the TB log, as you requested, but when I tried to send messages the log still without new information (the log file is fill when I just started TB) when I try to send mail there is no new information in the log file) An error message appears in text box window "Fail to send message. The message cannot be sent because has a connection fail with the server 128.127.50.15 (my local IP). The server could be unavailable or refusing the connection. Please verify your SMTP server configuration or contact your net administrator" My server is on-line, my local IP is on-line, I can do connections via TELNET on por 25 (SMTP), users that still using Outlook can queue messages, but TB can´t queue messages. If I turn off (ifdown eth0 - external server link) TB delay to send message, BUT IT CAN QUEUE MESSAGES, (my local mail server interface is eth1 with IP 128.127.50.15/16 - private local IP very strange, doesn´t it ?
ngrep can probably help you pin down the problem...

Marco your issue is still here also with latest TB 3.0.x?
Whiteboard: closeme 2010-07-05
My Company gives up to use TB :-( I still using TB 3.0.5 - 1.9.1.10, but now, with Google/GMail account (Google Apps). I will try with another costumer, and I return here back to tell. (TB3, qmail, vpopmail, courier-IMAP) Thanks

Sorry, but it doesn´t work. I still get error message with attach, the message is quickly delivered, but when it copy to Sent IMAP remote folder, was so slow and fail in the end. I also tried to change: max cache connections 5 to just 1 or more than 5, but doesn´t work yet. When I use outlook (I hate!) works fine :(
Marco, do you still see this problem?
