After upgrading from Ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10 toolbars and menu behave in odd way. Bookmark toolbar sometimes appears correctly, sometimes appears as blank. The same appens with the icons or toolbars of some extensions (web-developer, update notifier for example).
The odd behaviour is given by the fact that each time you open the browser you find different things: sometimes icons are there sometimes not. Toolbars often appear blank, without their icons; in the Customizing Toolbar menu you can either: 1) find the icons to put back on, but on the next-session they are gone, or 2) not find the icons which should be there.

You could try safe-mode or, if this doesn't work, resetting your toolbars (an option that is given to you when you enter safe-mode).

Toolbars appear blank eg the web developer toolbar. Its the second time its happening. Had to reinstall firefox 3.0.10 the first time and all my extensions. Now its happened again. It happened after some addons updated. Is this bug widely reported and is there a fix for it please.

N.B. 

I have started firefox in safe-mode and this didn't help.

This bug was reported using Firefox 3.0 or older, which is no longer supported. The bug has also not been changed in over 500 days and is still in UNCO.
Reporter, please retest this bug in Firefox 3.6.10 or later using a fresh profile, http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/managing+profiles. If you still see this problem, please update the bug. If you no longer see the bug, please set the resolution to RESOLVED, WORKSFORME.

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.12 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
