Details
this has been around for ages on all branches.
Sometimes when clicking "Stop" while the Apple site is still loading results in a status message of "loading images from ..." instead of "stopped"

Is it not stopping the download, or just not updating the status bar correctly?

It appears to stop the progress of download. The status bar is not reflecting that.
Summary: Pressing stop does not always stop image download → Pressing stop does not always correctly show in the status bar.
