In 2-pane mode; you start with a mailbox display. If you have chosen anything but All Folders mode; clicking on a mailbox is futile, you go nowhere.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set Unread, Recent or Favorite mode; exit
2. Start
3. At Mailbox menu; click away

Actual Results:
The desired mailbox opens.

Expected Results:
No mailbox opens.

You can rightclick - Open. That works. [The Open in New Tab does not.]

"All Folders" works ok.
Yes, I can get this to repeat on Windows as well.

For those with initiative, this bug is fixed in the Penelope hg source code

Otherwise you'll have to wait until the next release, Eudora 8 beta 5/Penelope
0.5a2.

Does this fix the "open in New Tab" as well?

By this do you mean can you turn on the setting to open windows in tabs by default (bug 463720) and then double-click on a mailbox in the folder pane view other than "All Folders" and have it open up in a tab? Yes, you can.
Actually, I was thinking of ctrl-clicking on a mailbox and choosing "open in new tab". I just found that it does not seem to work even in "All Folders"..

I actually just fixed that: <http://hg.mozilla.org/penelope/rev/363dc40a55c8>.

It really doesn't make sense to open tabs in the Mailboxes window, so with the fix mentioned above from the Mailboxes window it now forces mailboxes to be opened in to separate windows.

So how do you open up a buncha mailboxes as tabs? [Maybe that will be obvious when I actually use it...]

I'm thinking something like:

At Mailboxes; Open a mailbox as Tab

A) If an open window has tabs, add the new mailbox as another tab to that window. i.e. say 3->4 tabs [Issue is: you can have several windows with tabs...]

B) If none has tabs, "tabify" the most recently seen mailbox window and add to it [i.e go from 0->2 tabs

C) If there is no open mailbox window at all; create one. {ignore "as tab" aspect.}

You don't open mailboxes in tabs in 2-pane mode. The idea of 2-pane mode is to make each mailbox go in to a separate window.

If you want tabs, use 3-pane mode.
>You don't open mailboxes in tabs in 2-pane mode

Oh, midst the various screen bugs plaguing me; that was not clear.

I'm sorry to hear that; it destroys the usefulness of tabs for me. I hate having to run 3-pane [as I must occasionally now.]. I fight a regular battle re: focus. No matter what I'd doing, I lose the focus on the RH message window, and and commands then do what I do NOT want. Try to scroll down a doc; gotcha, you were focused on the left/tree and you're now way far away, etc.

That behavior is OSX's; I'm not blaming Eudora.

I note that 2-pane has a right-click, open in new tab, but it does not work; I'd assumed it was part of the bug you have fixed re: Unread/Recent/Favorite menus.
