User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080208 Mandriva/2.0.0.14-3.1mdv2008.1 (2008.1) Firefox/2.0.0.14 Build Identifier: Thunderbird version 2.0.0.12 (20080305) When I click into my Inbox, Thunderbird AUTOMATICALLY opens the email! now this would be fine in a world without threats from viruses or spy ware but makes no sense in the real world. Also, when I scroll through my emails,(using cursor keys) Thunderbird opens each email, whether I want to or not! If it is possible to CONFIGURE Thunderbird to allow DOUBLE CLICK or ENTER KEY to be used instead, then please tell me how? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Design shortfall Actual Results: Same problem exists on Windows and Linux versions. Expected Results: DOUBLE CLICK activation for email access is needed. ENTER KEY access of emails is needed when using cursor keys PREFERENCES could be used to give us the alternatives described above.

When clicking on the Inbox folder, no message is selected and so, no message is shown on the Message View. Furthermore, by default TB doesn't execute any remote code. User could simply hide Message Pane. Then a message could be opened by a double-click on it or pressing the Enter key on the keyboard when a message is selected, which is what reporter is requesting.
