I would like to be able to issue a command to Thunderbird to start and go directly to Create Event and Create Task windows respectively. Example: Thunderbird.exe -calendar -newevent Thunderbird.exe -calendar -newtask Essentially this would allow users to create hotkeys/system shortcuts to launch a command to give them the event or task window enter the information and move on. Makes sense. The main overhaul work for the command line is being done in bug 359807, it needs to be fixed first.

With bug 359807 fixed, and Calendar now part of Thunderbird, a command line option for events that mirrors -compose would be a great addition.

This would counter Windows 11's choice to remove the "Add new event" feature from its popup calendar. Add a "Compose" and "Create event" shortcuts to the Start Menu, and I would pin them right away!
