Expected Results:  
recovered bookmarks and history, working firefox

How about describing which problems do you have ?
This can't be fixed because there is no known problem.
Do you use a build form Mozilla.org or from somewhere else ?
What are the build options ?
Does your Mozilla build use his own sqlite as all Mozilla.org builds doing or does it load a system sqlite ?
If your build uses a system sqlite, does it use the latest version ?
Using an older sqlite is the only known problem and it's not our fault.
The file permissions for the profile and the places.sqlite file are ok ?

Tried safemode/new profile already ?

well, the problems where decribed prior to post the errors and here are only the errors <

problems:
-everytime the application is started the license agreement window comes up
-history is disabled
-bookmarks are non-existent 
-firefox freezes

problems solved (for now)

cause of the problems:
it seems the compatibility between firefox versions caused the issues
through upgrading of mandriva. the upgrade was made by fresh install 
however without installing new /home, this was left untouched.
problems had not appeared instantly after the upgrade rather were 
discovered possibly at 5th startup of the application. within those
two days firefox worked normally.

resolving WFM per comment 3, dfeel free to reopen if the issue returns and is not due to a bogus upgrade/install
