Seen while testing Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1b2pre) Gecko/20081118 Minefield/3.1b2pre. Seen on Windows Vista as well. STR: 1. Visit http://www.sciam.com in regular browsing mode. 2. Click on the preferences button and observe the option is available. 3. Switch to PB mode and visit the same site. 4. Observe that the option is greyed out. However, you can select "Edit Pop up Blocker preferences which will allow you to add it if you wish.

I guess I understand, but you can still choose to Edit the Pop up blocker preferences, so in a way it doesn't make sense to me to have that option live and have the other option greyed out.

mconnor has suggested that any preferences explicitly stored by the user should be remembered. The only goal here is that we prevent the user from accidentally storing something which can later be used to track her. If they choose to store a preference explicitly, we should honor their choice, the same way we allow them to save a bookmark. mconnor may be able to provide more insight here.

This bug needs to be reopened. This is making private mode virtually unusable.

Plus if there's multiple popups per page (which is often the case e.g. on Twitter) I've no clue which popup is which.
