Do you get a crash or a freeze ?
Does only Firefox freeze or the whole system ?
If the whole system freezes, can you open the windows taskmanager before you load the page and watch the Firefox process if it allocates your whole system memory or if it just freezes your system ?
If only Firefox freezes, can you try the Firefox safemode ?

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.4) Gecko/2008102920 Firefox/3.0.4
It loads Java but after loading it for the first time the hourglass disappears.
Do you have the latest Java version?
It only freezes the firefox browser, I can minize it and run anything else in windows without a problem.
Safemode makes no difference.
I have the latest Version of Java.
