User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.0.4) Gecko/2008102920 Firefox/3.0.4 Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.18 (20081105) About nine months ago, I installed the Logitech QuickCam software. This QuickCam seems to have some resident software. Some resident software in the Logitech QuickCam prevents Thunderbird 2.0.0.XX updates from installing updates correctly. I have had this problem with Thunderbird 2.0.0.15, 2.0.0.16, 2.0.0.17, and now with my new 2.0.0.18 installation today. Our IT Manager also confirmed that to enable prior Thunderbird updates to work correctly, he had to go in and kill some Logitech QuickCam processes. Today when installing new 2.0.0.18 build, the same infinite loop during install happened, and the Thunderbird software update just keeps running infinitely.., you can't stop the Thunderbird install, you can't kill it, and it keeps going even after a reboot, it just keeps trying and canceling it doesn't work. To solve this today, I went to the Windows Task manager and killed "QuickCam.exe". After killing this resident Logictech application, then the Thunderbird 2.0.0.18 install works fine. I suggest you work with Logitech to resolve this conflict between your two products. I think "a lot" of people must use Logictech QuickCam, so it's probably important you work with them.
