I'm sending my emails with Thunderbird in Linux and Windows over my local eMail-server (exim). External emails are relayed.

Every time i send a email my domainname is added doubled:

Return-path: <"[e-mail]"@mydomain.mydyn.de>
envelope-from <"[e-mail]"@mydomain.mydyn.de>


When i send an email with Squirrelmail everything is O.K.
So it is not a problem of the MTA.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Just send emails!

Actual Results:  
Sender: "[e-mail]"@mydomain.mydyn.de
or [e-mail]@mydomain.mydyn.de as shown in email

Expected Results:  
Only [e-mail]

I don't know why this occur, maybe because the domainname is a subdomain ?

Now i know the reason.
There is definitely a bug in the behaviour of Thunderbird.

I have a special setup of mailserver, which allows the mailserver to suffer multiple domains (http://mailserver.decotrain.de/).
So the mailserver needs for authentication as username the complete mailadress in the form username@domain.

In Thunderbird have in the settings the
serveradress: local ip-adress of my mailserver
username: [e-mail]
password: as requested with TLS-encryption.

The bug is that Thunderbird takes the username and somehow automatically adds the domainname.
But my username HAS already the domainname included.

Thunderbird must take the email-adress as given from the settings !

Normally this error will not occur because the username is without a domainname.
And mailing with my webmailer is working because the mails are directly delivered to the localhost.

can you reproduce this using version 3.0 [1] or 3.1 [2]?
if you no longer see the problem, please set resolution to WORKSFORME when closing the bug.
