Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.2; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) Build Identifier: All browsers This is NOT a bug reporting. Request to enhance Firefox features. We all use to add bookmarks feature very frequently. But when we search for something it will not be easy to search the bookmarked sites. A utility may be added, only to search the bookmarked sites. It may take little processing time, but seems very useful. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Add a new button to search from the ookmarked sites.

"It may take little processing time" Are you kidding ? This would require downloading all the URL's that were bookmarked (could be hundreds or thousands of websites !)

Typing * followed by the search term should show you bookmarks. Or do I misunderstand this bug?

Reporter, you marked "All Browsers", we only cover Mozilla products here. I am thinking you mean Firefox trunk for this (only version this could possibly be put in). @Ria, I think the reporter more wants to search the content of those sites, and not titles, urls, etc. I aggee with Jo, this seems very unlikely to be practical, and will probably en up WONTFIX.

I assumed this was about searching the content of the various websites that make up the list of bookmarks for their culture.

It's certainly feasible: Google Desktop and Spotlight routinely operate on larger amounts of data.

(In reply to comment #6) > It's certainly feasible: Google Desktop and Spotlight routinely operate on > larger amounts of data. Beagle does it. Also, see: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484187
(In reply to comment #6) > It's certainly feasible: Google Desktop and Spotlight routinely operate on > larger amounts of data. > *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 286544 *** Yes, this is already there in 286544. It is better to think on the assumption that, a person who bookmarks will keep items in sub-folders. Searching can be limited to that folder and uto a maximum of 5 to 10 sites, whatever feasible. It the search engine like Altavisa and Google provisions are there for giving URL: and Site: prefixes. Same method can be adopted. Now I guess this suggestion has to go to Search Engine Project Developers !!!!.

IMO, this is still a dup. You can add that suggestion to bug 286544.
