Details

I prefer to download MP3 audio files instead of playing them in the browser, so I have MP3 audio set to “Always Ask” in Preferences → Applications. But when navigating to an MP3 file, Firefox renders the file with the Totem (video player) plug-in, instead of showing the usual dialogue box. Steps to reproduce: 1. Ensure the Totem plug-in is enabled 2. Preferences → Applications: set MP3 audio to “Always Ask” 3. Load an MP3 file as normal This is using latest-trunk on Ubuntu 8.10, with Ubuntu's default Totem plug-in (2.24.3). Workaround: disable the plug-in.
That sounds like the same problem I'm having where I changed all MPEG-4 from QuickTime Plug-in to the QuickTime player and it still wants to use the plug-in. Disabling the plug-in means that the file won't open. http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/Electrical-Engineering-and-Computer-Science/6-189January--IAP--2007/LectureNotesandVideo/detail/embed03.htm http://www.archive.org/download/MIT6.189IAP07/ocw-6.189-iap07-lec02_300k.mp4 Workaround: Run QuickTime player and then copy the URL to it.
