User-Agent:       Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.4) Gecko/2008111216 Remi/fc8 Firefox/3.0.4
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.4) Gecko/2008111216 Remi/fc8 Firefox/3.0.4

Customizing nav-bar works OK for current window, but default nav-bar contents is used when opening another window or at next start-up.

My user's localstore.rdf shows:
..
  <RDF:Description RDF:about="chrome://browser/content/browser.xul#nav-bar"
                   iconsize="large"
                   currentset="new-tab-button,unified-back-forward-button,back-button,forward-button,reload-button,stop-button,urlbar-container" />
..

The currentset line shows my customized bar items but it's even persistent over restart, but it seems simply ignored when creating the nav-bar of any new window.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Customize your navigation bar. Add or remove items. Close the dialog and see how your changed to the nav-bar are taken into account (good).
2. File/New Window, see how your changes to the nav-bar are ignored (bad).
3. Restart Firefox, see how your changes to the nav-bar are ignored (bad).

Actual Results:
Custom nav-bar contents is ignored when creating a new window.

Expected Results:
Custom nav-bar contents should be taken into account when creating new windows or at next restart.
Reproduced with Firefox 3.0 and 3.0.4, in Fedora 8 (ffx installed from remi repository).
This works fine on Windows XP, with latest trunk and Firefox 3.0.4.
FYI, ~/.mozilla contents show correct ownership and rights.

FYI, problem was not present with Firefox 2 (up to 2.0.0.18) and Ffx3 has been installed as a replacement of Ffx2, keeping the same user dir.

Still FYI, it seems to be a generalized toolbar customization issue: if I add another toolbar, it will be shown in current window, but ignored when opening a new window or at next start-up.
OK, I have a better clue now: issue not reproducible w/ another user on the same machine. Sounds related to my ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/ contents. Now, knowing why and how to solve this, is another story!

Also see my comment to bug 462290: I cannot remove items from history list either, but it works fine w/ another user on the same machine (thus this sounds related).
