I wanted to create a Camino t-shirt and see how it came out. However, when trying out the Zazzle stuff, I uploaded my image and checked out the back of the shirt. By default, this has a Firefox logo and "firefox.com" with no way easy to change it (that I can see). Shirts from other projects shouldn't be Firefox-centric by default. The press release implies creating shirts is for specific projects and not related to Firefox, fwiw. If you must have one design on the back for all shirts, it should be a non-Firefox, Mozilla one, like the dino head with "mozilla.org" underneath it, otherwise it's not really made for non-Firefox projects.

Is it possible to have the generic dino head plus mozilla.org on the back? Or, to give people the option of the dinohead *or* firefox on the back? It feels like if we are in control of the logo presentation that it should be possible.

I think Sam makes a good point. We should probably change the Firefox logo to a Mozilla one.

Hi guys. Definitely a good point, and something that we are already working on. Hope to implement that very soon. We won't be able to switch the back to a generic Mozilla/Dino graphic. But we will be providing separate back templates for people to choose from depending on the mark they are designing around. Will keep you posted.

Speaking from a Camino point of view... it seems like the press release shouldn't have included other projects in it if the store wasn't ready to take them. If it didn't, a second press release announcing a more general availability after adding back templates could even have been issued. As it stands now, I don't think the community store is useful for projects other than Firefox and it shouldn't be advertised as such.

For the record, I specifically pushed for inclusion of other projects in the announcement because I think it's important. So, blame me on that. In terms of the mismatch with the back of the shirts, I think there was an honest disconnect and miscommunication. I was the one wanting to explicitly promote the idea of shirts by other projects and didn't know about the firefox on the back. An honest misunderstanding. Going forward, it sounds like Tara is making every effort to fix this. It feels like simply having the option of no logo or name on the back would be an easy way to make a fix in the short term.

Mark, wasn't trying to blame anyone at all. :) I just meant that, as a "Mozilla Community" store, it would've been nice for it to be more accessible for other projects, out of the door. I was happy that was announced and sad that it wasn't entirely true. I'm glad it's going to be corrected though.

I'm working with Zazzle to create new product templates with no back design. They are marked as "No Back Design", or something similar to that -- and will allow you to take any design and customize it on either Firefox.com or a blank template. But we have to set some controls in place with respect to branding/marketing. Which means that for now, back options will either be Firefox.com, or completely blank. The more appropriate / longer term solution is to create separate templates for each Mozilla mark. That requires more work from webdev/QA etc. So its something we're working towards but not a feature we can add right away. Hope this addresses the bug so that we can close it. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know.

Tara: thanks for moving quickly on this. It's appreciated.

Agreed, thanks Tara and thanks to Sam for pushing on this. We'll continue working towards the longer-term solution of having customized backs for each software product, but since the short term fix is already in place I'm going to mark this one as fixed. Hope that's ok.
