The Quick Search starts out with "Subject or Sender" grayed out.
If I click in the box, I can enter text to search for in the subject and sender fields. That typed text is black, and search happens as I type it. (Good)

If I click on the magnifying glass and select another category, such as Sender, the grayed out text changes to "Sender". When I click in the text box, my typing is colored gray, and search does not occur.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on quick search magnifying glass
2. Select a different category that what's currently chosen.
3. Type in the text box.
Actual Results:  
The text box text is gray and search does not happen.

Expected Results:  
I expect the text to be black and the search to occur.

Confirming on TB3 on Mac OS X.

Wontfix - as it workd in 3.0 and 2.x is a stability and security release
branch.
