The statusbar menu's 'sign in' doesn't bring up the wizard if the server URL isn't the default, because the wizard only works with the default server. The prefs window will always bring up the wizard. Both buttons should be changed to call the same code, so that even if we change the behavior in the future we don't have to worry about keeping it in sync in two places.
