469316 - Additional forum statuses

Reading through the forum threads that are marked "request for more info" I find that a number of them have a status that we don't have status fields for so even if we do fix bug 468613, there may not be a status for users to select.

The following cases need statuses:

"I'm the original poster and I replied to the request for more info or the suggested solution didn't help me"

and
http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?locale=en-US&comments_parentId=220820&forumId=1

"I'm the original poster and want to say thank you because your solution worked or I will try it or I want to close this ticket for some other reason"

and

"I want to comment on the thread about a related topic but not offering help or requesting information or I'm seeing this same problem and I wanted to chime in"

From my point of view, all of the above falls under "None of the above."

Why do we need to track these statuses as anything else? What would be the benefits?

1) Would allow the original poster to request more help and change the status back down.  Right now, once a status is promoted above n, it can't go back down.

2) Allows us to have threads no longer show up when looking for threads that need answering.  It's an alternative to solved in cases where it may not be solved by a thread post but the problem has gone away.  We can also used solved as a status but having two interfaces for solved is good because many people post a thanks rather than clicking the button and there's no way to mark a thread as solved via a new post.  Also, these cases may be where they didn't register so they don't get the "did this solve your problem" button.

3) This is truly none of the above and can probably stay that way.

Ok, since 0.8 needs to land first, let's backburner these ideas until we have more concrete data and then decide where to go from here.  I think some of these may become more minor concerns after we get 0.8 to land.  WONTFIX for now, and we'll reopen later.

WONTFIX is a bad idea if you want to look back at it later. Set the target to future, and set the severity to minor for unimportant things. Don't mix them in with bugs you definitely don't need to look back at.
