My name is Tomasz Sałaciński, while in thunderbird it shows it like this: Tomasz SaÅaciÅski It seems it parses this as ISO or something, not as UTF-8. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Rename your users name to use non-ascii characters 2. Open thunderbird for the first time 3. Watch your name corrupted while trying to create new account Actual Results: Name is corrupted. Expected Results: Name should be ok.

I couldn't see a dupe, though I do have a fix, I'll attach a patch and move to the appropriate locations tomorrow if I get time.

I've raised bug 469797 for the issue (which is actually toolkit), but keeping this bug here will let us track it within Thunderbird for now.
