william - you can set up the mozilla.com lists yourself, by filing IT bugs here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=mozilla.org&format=itrequest i don't have the ability to set up mozilla.org mailing lists. (front end is here: https://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo )

Couple of questions/comments: * Instead of using '_', how about using '-'? Hyphens seem to be the more acceptable form. * Why are some lists @mozilla.com while others are @mozilla.org? * Are any of these going to be "real" lists where external people can sign up to join, or will they all be just aliases that point to the static list of people you specify?
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
Also, if you need them to be mailman mailing lists, who will be the administrator for them? Making them @mozilla.com distribution lists is probably easiest.
Here are my answers to your questions/comments : * OK, let's use hyphens '-' instead of underscores '_' * Actually, i meant to put all the aliases in @mozilla.org but didn't properly read through. The Community Marketing Guide will be hosted on mozilla.org, so if we can make them all @mozilla.org, that would be great. If it's complicated, then let's make them all @mozilla.com. Not a big deal I guess. * these will in effect be "aliases" that will point to static a static list of people. * there is one list missing : Name: Community Manager Middle East; list : cm-middleeast@mozilla.org; associated email: william@mozilla.com Thanks guys !!!!

I am going to hold off on creating these just yet. I need some clarification on why we can't use the existing aliases and lists for this stuff. There are already aliases for press (for both org and com), so we should probably use those? Also before I create them I would like clarifications on com vs. org, because they do mean different things and I think it may lead to more problems down the road.
Regarding the press alias, yes, let's use the org one if it already exists. As for com vs. org, i agree 100%, the distinction is very important so we need to be clear on this. Since the Community Marketing Guide will be hosted on mozilla.org at http://contribute.mozilla.org/CMG, it only makes sense that all aliases be @mozilla.org .
Hey there: I talked to William about this: - .org vs. .com: If it's not too much trouble all should be .org. If this is presents an issue we'll work with .com. - We'll eliminate the aliases 1 - 6 and request that cm@mozilla.org/.com be created as a bucket to capture these questions. This alias will have the following people on it: william@mozilla.com;shigeru@mozilla-japan.org,gen@mozilla.com;mary@mozilla.com;alix@mozilla.com;lmesa@mozilla.com; patrick@mozilla.com - As discussed we'll use the current press alias rather than start a new one - Let's proceed with the following new aliases: 1) Name : CMG Owner; list: cmg_team@mozilla.org/.com; associated emails : william@mozilla.com;patrick@mozilla.com;mary@mozilla.com 2) Name : Analysis; list : analysis@mozilla.org/.com; associated emails : kkovash@mozilla.com;alix@mozilla.com; stas@mozilla.com 3) Name : Testimonials; list : testimonials@mozilla.org/.com; associated emails : jay@mozilla.com; afranquet@mozilla.com 4) Name : Materials; list : materials@mozilla.org/.com; associated emails : mary@mozilla.com;william@mozilla.com 5) cm@mozilla.org/.com per above. Last, David is worried about having a specific alias for advertising. He will chime in on that one when he wraps up a meeting. Thanks for all of your help!
Re: having a specific advertising alias: I think it's best if we just use the affiliates@mozilla.com alias for this. I suspect that most community members will not run actual paid advertisements on our behalf, but instead place banners/buttons on their website or blog. We already have some content available for them to make their own advertising. I'm concerned that we'll just get a lot of solicitation/spam by setting up a new advertising alias. So unless there is an objection, lets just just use the "affiliates" alias for this section of the guide.
William and I talked about this and decided the following: - Please make all aliases .org if possible. If this is a problem we are find using .com across the board. - Please create the following aliases (only): --- Community Marketing; list: cm@mozilla.org.com; associated emails : william@mozilla.com;shigeru@mozilla-japan.org,gen@mozilla.com; mary@mozilla.com; alix@mozilla.com; lmesa@mozilla.com; patrick@mozilla.com --- CMG Owner; list: cmg-team@mozilla.org; associated emails : william@mozilla.com;patrick@mozilla.com;mary@mozilla.com ---Analysis; list : analysis@mozilla.com; associated emails : kkovash@mozilla.com;alix@mozilla.com; stas@mozilla.com ---Testimonials; list : testimonials@mozilla.com; associated emails : jay@mozilla.com; alix@mozilla.com --- Name : Materials; list : materials@mozilla.com; associated emails : mary@mozilla.com;william@mozilla.com We're eliminating the requested regional community marketing, press and advertising lists. Thanks for all of your help and let me know if you have questions. I will try posting this again. William: David has asked that we use the affiliates alias for advertising questions (affiliates@mozilla.com).
Awesome :)
Thanks Aravind !!!
