The bank uses digital certificates previously downloaded to your machine to enable you to authorise payments. To properly use these certs you need java enabled. What happens when you want to make a payment is that java loads within the page, then you browse to the cert on your hard drive, then you need to enter the password for the cert and click authorise. Problem is that the password box remains uneditable and blank. Clicking on it does nothing thus the authorisation cannot continue. I tried multi-clicking, typing my password anyway, just messing about and then the box was filled with password stars, far more than I typed. At no point did a text cursor appear. (Vertical bar.) I know this is a firefox and not a java problem because I can do the exact same operation using firefox on a windoze machine without issue. I realise testing this will be problematic unless any of you guys happen to be clients of FNB as well. Otherwise I can install any updates and test them out myself. Oh dear, I have just tried it again and it all worked perfectly! A mini-bug then? Thanks! Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce Steps to Reproduce: 1. Log in to the banking. 2. Select a payment you need to authorise and click authorise. 3. When the java bit loads the password field may be uneditable. Actual Results: Password field uneditable. Expected Results: Password field editable. Loaded the certificate and allowed you to enter the password for the certificate.
Ok I have found out that it does happen quite a lot. It seems once you have browsed to your certificate and the path appears in the text box then the password box is likely to be uneditable. A reliable work around is to enter your password first and then browse to your cert.
Also noted, once the password field is uneditable the path field where the certificate is to be found is also uneditable. (I have been clicking browse the whole time to didn't notice this.)
Is the password field within the Java applet or outside of it (you can right click on the field, then either no menu will appear, then it's Java, otherwise it's on the normal html page)?
Its all entirely within what the java applet loads...
