Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.16) Gecko/20080702 Firefox/2.0.0.16
Build Identifier: 2.0.0.9 (20071031)
1) It is impossible to delete attachments contained in some messages that come from some MAC users.
2) User interface is lacking. For any message having attachments, including those for which attachment deletion would work properly, if for example there is only one attachment and cursor is placed in the lower pane but not placed over the icon for the one and only attachment, the program will go through the motions of deletion but will list in the warning message box the names of attachments deleted in some previous message. These attachments will not be found in the open message and the open message will remain unchanged.
The same problem will occur if there are multiple attachments but is less likely to be encountered because if DELETE ALL is used, cursor placement does not matter and if a single attachment is to be deleted, the user is likely to put the cursor on a specific icon.
3) Some MAC messages contain interleaved images and text and the text groups are attachments too. DELETING ALL will result in an empty message containing no text, not generally what most people would expect or want.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. You know how!
2.
3.
Actual Results:
Explained already.
Expected Results:
Explained already.
For one MAC deletion trouble case the relevant header info is:
MIME-version: 1.0;
X-Mailer: Apple Mail (2.929.2);
Content-type: multipart/alternative;
Attempting to delete the attachment results in the usual warning that the attachment will be permanently deleted. The program goes through the motions of performing a deletion but afterwards the original message size remains unchanged (1762K in this case)
For another case, similar to first case, the correct standard warning displays but deletion does not occur. Here is the relevant header info:
Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary=Apple-Mail-48--436104520
Mime-Version: 1.0 (Apple Message framework v929.2)
X-Mailer: Apple Mail (2.929.2)

Para 2 of the original Description above states that the problem arises if the cursor isn't placed on the Attachment's icon, and that the warning message won't contain the name of the attachment to be deleted. I am placing the cursor firmly on the Attachment name, and that name IS being listed in the warning message, but it's still not being deleted.
So this bug may be similar to 377087, but isn't identical. I can't say whether it's resolved, but I rather doubt it. I am placing this comment in Bug 377087 as well.
