User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5 Build Identifier: I have a number of Local email folders which do not accept any email nor can I delete them. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Used build ? Which local folders ? "which do not accept any email" what do you mean with that ? "can I delete them." what happens if you try it ? -> incomplete

What I meant: I cannot shift emails to these local folders. Trying to do so I get the folowing message: "The message could not be moved or copied to folder XYZ because writing to folder failed. To gain disk space, from the File menu, first choose Empty Trash, and then Compact Folders, and then try again." I have tried to follow this advice with no success. Unfortunately I cannot remove either those folders (I have several). Other folders work perfectly which seems to indicate that there is plenty space available.

Compacting folders doesn't help ? When or how did that started ?

I cannot exactzly remember when this problem started - but is is quite a while ago. I tried to ignore - but it seems that more new folders are affected.
Where are these local folders stored? Have you checked you actually have enough disk space, and write access to that place? Try opening Tools - Error Console and see if any messages are appearing there.
This is what I found in the Error Console (unfortunately I do not understand what it means) in fact, it appears ten times: Error: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIAppStartup.quit]" nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://mozapps/content/update/updates.js :: anonymous :: line 1668" data: no] Source File: chrome://mozapps/content/update/updates.js Line: 1668
How about the other questions I asked? The most likely problem is something on your computer
The folders are stored in C:\Documents and Settings\admin\Application Data Free Space: both parts of my HDD, C: and D: have 2.5 GB free space. Regarding: "write access to that place?" I have no difficulty to copy/shift messages to my other folders.
OK. Have you tried the tips noted here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=518516&highlight=message*+copy+sent+folder Basically, deleting the .MSF (index) files for the folders. If not that, then there is probably some corruption in the folder file or an email in it...
Creating a new profile may just end up being the answer eventually.
Walter please state your exact version from help>about. do you filter messages to any of these folders? have you worked through this in a support group? Glenn, do you see this problem (cc: Glenn from bug 384735)
