We need to find a way to monitor if the various DHCP servers are actually up and running and page us if they don't respond. This is an action item from bug 471679.

Is it possible to build a standby DHCP server? (I've never heard of such a
thing.)

Yes, see bug 471830, which I was in the process of filing when you made that comment. :)

* Is there a server I could use to monitor it? I guess one of the webheads would work, but is there anything else?

* No idea about these... I need an external machine to monitor DHCP correctly, and I don't know of any external ones for these two.

We have a couple of minis that are always-on that you could get access to, but otherwise we don't have any other IT-run machines in the office.

Used cn-mail01

Gavin mentioned some minis, so might be able to add this one later, but for now, don't have any monitors.

There aren't any external machines at the China office to use, so can't monitor this one.
