Details

I just changed my LDAP password at Mozilla. The next time I checked mail via IMAP, it detected the auth fail and prompted me for my new password. I wasn't so lucky the next time I went to send mail. ------8<------ Send Message Error Sending of message failed. The message could not be send because the connection to SMTP server smtp.mozilla.org was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again or contact your network administrator. ------8<------ This doesn't mention anything about an authentication failure, nor does it prompt me for a password. I found if I go into my saved passwords and delete the record for that server, then on my next attempt, it does prompt me for the password, and then it succeeds from there on out.

I do have 3 separate saved passwords for this set of servers (one for the smtp.mozilla.org RR and one for each of the servers individually, for testing things). I will try this again with protocol logging enabled with one of the entries I haven't fixed yet and attach a log shortly.
Indeed, this is a dupe, and has been around for way too long :(
