User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20090106 Minefield/3.2a1pre

After bug279539 was checked in submenus popping up on the left side of a main menu overlap by a few pixels with the main menu and thus overlapping also the icons. This happens on windows vista, xp and OS/2, but not linux (no clue about mac). In vista icons are overlapped only in classic mode since in themed mode there are a few pixels space before the icons.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. 2008-12-19-03-mozilla-central nightly: left submenus aligned (also in firefox 3.0.x or shiretoko whatever build)
2. 2008-12-20-03-mozilla-central nightly: left submenus overlap
3.
Blocks: 279539
Version: unspecified → Trunk
OS/2 upper panel
Vista classic mode lower panel
The submenu position looks incorrect in firefox 3.0 as well, as compared to other applications, although the submenu is too far to the left. Now it is too far to the right.

Right now when the menu is flipped to the opposite side, the margins are flipped as well so that the opposite margin ends up being used. Maybe that shouldn't be the case though.
On OS/2 native apps (I tested using the system's Window List context menu) I see that submeus on the right overlap by 2px while when flipped to the left they overlap by 4px.

In SeaMonkey 2009010915 I see overlap of 6px to the right and none to the left. In the latest Minefield I have (2008122907) I see 6px on both sides. So one could argue that that has gotten better. ;-)

Native OS/2 submenus are also be shifted downwards by 1px with regard to the highlight (and so probably 2px below the top of the menu entry). We never had that right, either.
What puzzles me most that no one of the Windows XP users did open that bug here or that I didn't find any comments about in mozillazine firefox group.
Peter, I still want to wait a bit, if there will be some follow-up changes in winstripe and if bug279539 gets also in the 1.9.1 branch, but in principle I'd be willing to make some changes to pmstripe.
Hello Walter,

I could not see this kind of problem for a long time now.

Unfortunately I am not using OS/2 any longer so I cannot proof whether or not the problem was solved.

Hello Walter,

would it be OK for you if we close this bug-report?
as I was not able to reproduce and i was not able to find same report somewhere in last year.
if someone will see it, they can always reopen it...
