User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5 Sometimes PDF-files are not shown. Instead of the PDF-file a blank page is displayed. It seems to be a problem with the kind of loading the PDF-file. If a PDF-file is sent in one piece (HTTP status code 200), the file is displayed. If it was sent in parts (ranges, HTTP status code 206), the blank page is displayed. A extract of a HTTP Header in case of a blank page: Get: Range: bytes=2408-4095,2408-2409 Receive: Accept-Ranges: bytes Content-Range: bytes 2408-4095/23456 The http status code received is 206 (HTTP/1.x 206 OK). This may cause trouble with adobe plugin including version 9. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Expected Results: The pdf file has to loaded and displayed.
The adobe Plugin itself is always doing byte range requests if available and that works for me and i never got an empty page. The first request should come from Gecko and should result in a non range request. Did you tested this in the firefox safemode ? Do you have an example URL where you got this ?
You could try this URL: http://download.boulder.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/dw/java/j-groovierspring2-pdf.pdf I've got an status code 206 and this file isn't displayed.
Here is a part of the log file (using Live HTTP Headers): http://download.boulder.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/dw/java/j-groovierspring2-pdf.pdf HEAD /ibmdl/pub/software/dw/java/j-groovierspring2-pdf.pdf HTTP/1.1 Host: download.boulder.ibm.com User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5 ... mid-air :-) Just to be sure: Do you get this in the Firefox safemode ? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode Someone else needs to look at this because i don't use the Adobe plugin anymore.
fwiw the url works fine for me using: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5
It's the same in safemode. In the status bar is shown "Angehalten". I think it's "stopped" in english.
An additional information: A proxy server is used by connection to the WWW. A direct connection is not possible.
no trouble here. Do you still see this?
