PDF closing: 1. Open the brower 2. load a page with a pdf http://www.in.gov/judiciary/orders/judg ... ms-613.pdf 3. Try to close tab with Ctrl+w I get the following, a 'blank' dialog box, and one to close the browser. http://img133.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pdfdq9.jpg 4. Cancel both boxes - now Ctrl+w will close the tab. No errors in the console2 that I see. This only happens on initial start up the browser, that is the two dialog boxes. Further opening/close of pdf's result in only the dialog to close the browser, but canceling that, then using Ctrl+w will close the tab with the pdf.

More info: Reopening the tab from History->Recnetly closed then using ctrl+w to close, results in no action at all, no dialog, does not close. Switching tabs with Ctrl+tab will not switch away from the tab. Manually changing tabs to another tab, then back to pdf tab, ctrl+w will now close the tab. Still see no errors in the console2

(In reply to comment #0) Also, it looks like you're using Tab Mix Plus. You should try that in safe mode.

Does the same in safe-mode, double-dialog box on initial startup of brower I'm thinking that we used to see a box that said something like: The tab cannot be closed by this method when trying to close with Ctrl+W, and I'm thinking that's what the empty box is..

(In reply to comment #4) > I'm thinking that we used to see a box that said something like: > The tab cannot be closed by this method when trying to close with Ctrl+W, and > I'm thinking that's what the empty box is.. Yeah, and that's being created by the plugin.

Its not due to Tabmix plus - I just tested with a new profile, and the sets listed in comment #0 produce the same result, two dialog boxes when trying to close the tab with ctrl+w Canceling out both boxes, and doing ctrl+w again wants to close the browser Canceling that one, and using Ctrl+w , now the tab closes. Unless 'created by the plugin' is in reference to Adobe reader 9.0
I can not reproduce this bug with lastest nightly. Also as Dao said in comment 2 the prompt is from adobe because the pdf has focus. Click on the tab so that the focus ring shows around the title and you should then be able to close the tab. The blank box should probably say "This action cannot be completed from within an external window" which is what I get when I try to close the tab when the pdf still has focus and not the some other part of the browser. I'm not sure why yours is blank though.

I've spot tested nightly's on various dates back to Dec 10, 2008 build, and I see the same, double-box, one being 'empty' as shown in the image above. I guess its something unique to my system, and I have no idea what. Should we just close this INVALID ?

Where are the 2008 nightly archive builds, I see 2004-2007, then the current folder going back to Dec 10, 2008, but nothing else in 2008 ? http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/

thanks Dao OK, more quick testing with 11/1/08, 10/1/08, and 6/1/08, all behave the same way as I stated in the bug. Something in the way my system works, or ?? Since no one else can repo this, I'm not going to worry about, and closing as INVALID.
