I am able to attach a .doc or .txt file to a task in Lightning but not able to open it. I get the following message: 

"An external application must me launched to handle c: links 
Requested link

C:\Users\myname\file.txt

Application: c

If you were not ...."

I am able to attach pdf and html files fine. I get the same error even if I start with a fresh/new profile. I am running 2.0.0.19

If you want to attach a file to an event, the only way to do so right now is to specify the file://C:/Users/myname/file.txt URL link. This does not attach the file to the event, it just saves the URL to the file. If you delete the file or open that calendar on another computer, you won't be able to access the file.
