User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5

The EA press site is opened using Javascript from the main page, so there's not toolbars and menus any anything (see attached picture). By default it's maximized, so it uses full screen.

When someone clicks on "Click here to download the ticked assets..." the link points to a Javascript function that basically does "document.myform.submit()".

Server does some processing and the "Opening file" appears, but the OK button is grayed out and remains grayed out. Note that opening file window is with the focus on it. The OK button is usable only if I click on the Start button or the taskbar below, so that it loses focus. When I click on it again, the OK button becomes usable.

This happened every time, for several downloads.

When I made a screenshot of the main page, I resized it to make the picture smaller. With the page not maximized I clicked on the download link and the OK button worked right away, so the bug appears every time if the page is maximized from the start.

Note1: the "Click here to download assets" only works if one is registered. Registration is free and as soon as you register you can download files for about 20 minutes, after that you'll be able to download only after they confirm your press account. I can do tests.

Note2: The press page was opened by going to www.ea.com , going to the footer of the page, clicking on "Corporate Info" (this is where javascript pops up the page), and then on the press button.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. go to Ea's press page
2. Create an account to be able to download assets
3. click on "Click here to download..."
4. Opening file button remains gray.
Actual Results:
OK button is gray and not clickable.

Expected Results:
OK button should be clickable
Later info:

I also managed to reproduce the problem by simply going in a normal browser tab.
With Firefox maximized, I went to http://press.ea.com, searched for "Mirror's Edge", selected a screenshot pack, selected "Click here to download".
Opening window opened with OK button clickable but in about 1-2 seconds it turned gray and remained gray even though the window had focus on it.
Clicked on taskbar and back on Opening file and OK button became usable.
See second comment, apparently the bug manifests itself also in a normal maximized Firefox in a tab.

Reporter, can you please update to Firefox 3.6.10 or later, create a fresh profile, http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/managing+profiles, and test again. If you still see the issue, please update this bug. If the issue is gone, please set the status to RESOLVED > WORKSFORME.

Well, as with other bugs I've reported (and I feel again that it's pointless to even submit bug reports if most of them are not even replied to in a year - this one is from January 2009), it can no longer be reproduced because the website where this issue was manifested has changed in the meantime.

Maybe you can replicate this or create some test for this by starting a popup window without toolbars and menus using Javascript and then submitting a form using Javascript from that popup.

If I'm too bored, maybe I'll try to reproduce it and post another message here.
Copy all 3 files on a folder on a server with php, start a.html, click link to open b.html in popup (leave maximized), click download to start download.php which offers for download a bogus 100KB zip file (it's 100KB of space characters generated on the fly in the php script)

Can't reproduce the part where the OK button remains grayed out (although sometimes it does stay gray for a couple of seconds) but I noticed something else that's worth mentioning: once every few clicks on the download link, it takes up to 5 seconds for Firefox to initiate the download and pop the window (as seen with Live HTTP Headers extension and visually by the save as window popping).

As soon as I click on the link the progress bar does appear in the popup right corner and it's at 0 percent.

Version: unspecified → 3.6 Branch
Reporter, can you still reproduce using a current version?
If no, please set status to RESOLVED and resolution to WORKSFORME.
If yes, please provide updated information.
