For example when the mail UI shows Inbox with 50 messages with total size about 2MB, the Inbox file is 60MB and the first message in the file is a year older than the oldest in the UI. Reproducible: Always Temporary fix: create Temp folder move Inbox messages to Temp close SeaMonkey delete Inbox and Inbox.msf move messages from Temp to Inbox
There are already a few solutions: 1. You can use the compact folder function from the folder context menu, to compact one folder. 2. You can use File - compact folders to compact all folders in one step. If you don't want to do that manually, you can activate the "Compact folders when it will save over ... KB" preference in Preferences - Mail & Newsgroups - Offline & Disk Space.
