Details |
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5
Build Identifier: save link target
Get an email from a group that states uploaded this file for those ....
the hyperlink is there - computer generated e-mail and we LMB select the
hyperlink. Some files save. Either the % signs kill the filename extension
or the file type is not known and that truncates the path. Does not crash mail,
just provide a html file with the file name of the cad (.pcm) name attached. So it would appear the save-as function is working but the ftp function isn't.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Get email. (I can forward an emil example - but put the hyperlink for test case
2.read and hyperlink RMB upon the link name 'save link target'
3.mine are by default stored in desktop/temp go there and edit with text file .
Actual Results:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
<html> < bad file
Expected Results:
SHOULD be 1.0 or 1.01 and odd binary converted into text boxes..... < good file
1.01 B lÂ@xÙAøcÄ@ AÅ@È7AÅ@ŒïA,=Ä@x
The file xxx.pcm should be saved in the 'default' directory (since not directed)
and the cad program should be able to read the file as a cad file. The name and extension are the cad file, but the contents are html from the page containing
the cad file.
The only work around is to bring up Firefox and go to the site - try to locate the user account and then the file and do a save as from there. This was working - now it doesn't. I can provide a .pcm file to you - small in size for
local hyperlink not into a web group or distant site. I'll try to attach - otherwise contact me and I can email or otherwise provide a test case.

the issue might be wrapped around an unknown file-type. unit testing will show.
This file is virus free - but prove that for yourself. Norton downloaded twice
last night.
Use a text editor to view the file. Plasmacam is the name of the CAD.

The bug continues - I provided a link and attachment. If the site is
password protected and you get an email that hyperlinks to the cad file -
Firefox does not process username password nor does it request username password
to log into the site - but gets to the link and saves the page showing the
link.
If the file of any type - this type is not known/handled by firefox - e.g. can't
display in a plugin or such. e.g. not a picture or a movie.....
If one is logged in, the site and do a RMB and do a save-as - the file will
be saved. So it appears to be a forbidden access but as a member, I select
the page and hyper into files - e.g. I login by just going there. So this
might start with a bad command from Thunderbird in the first place.

Martin, without a testcase we can't do anything here. Can you provide an affected email? I doubt it's a bug in TB.

I provided you with a test file - on the web. In Yahoo groups. I have provided you a .pcm file that a hyperlink can point to. A simple html file for test case is easy enough for a test case debuger. Is the %20 blowing up the file ?There is an attachment to the attachment text - a 2.64kb (small) cad file.

This is a small cad file. use it as the target to save-as (2.64 KB, application/CAD binary with text )
2009-01-24 09:51 PST, Martin H. Eastburn ::: look at this line above - it contains the small .pcm file.
Put it into a folder. have the test case open that folder and 'ask for a save as' not blow up....
In the browser, search for the folder (disk folder) that contains the test case file I provided. Browse was first disk files across many disks on a network. Then it was assigned to Web pages. This is a disk file. The format is not http://domain it is maybe file:/// it is as if you have a folder of many pictures and you want to view or copy a specific picture. You know .gif .giff .... but when you see a file type of .pcm you don't know how to display it and you should popup "save as".
