If the mouse hovers over an event, a tooltip box appears which should show the full title of the event, BUT the tooltip box is always empty.  This problem exists in all calendar views (Day/Week/Multiweek/Month).

Works fine for me using Lightning 1.0pre (2009012504) with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b3pre) Gecko/20090125 Shredder/3.0b2pre.

Do you use other calendar related extensions or a custom theme? If yes try without or with default theme instead.

Do you see any calendar related error messages in Tools -> Error Console? If yes please copy and paste them here.

I have removed all extensions (although none were calendar related) and the
problem is still the same.

There is one error message in Tools -> Error Console and I've attached an
image.

The only difference I can see in the versions is that I am running Windows NT
6.0 (Vista Home Premium 64-bit edition) and you are running Windows NT 5.1. 
Does this make a difference?

I can see this with Sunbird too. No error in Error console.

It seems to me that the Tootips box should be displayed if the Title field contains a string  that is too long to fully display (in Month or Multiweek views) OR if the Decription field contains any characters.

I have done some more testing (in Month and Multiweek views):

1. If Description field is empty, the Tooltips box is always empty, even if the Title field contains a long string which cannot be fully displayed in Month or Multiweek views.

2. If Description field contains less than about 30 characters (precise number seems to vary), the Tooltips box is always empty.

3. If Description field contains more than about 30 characters (precise number seems to vary), the Tooltips box is dislayed with title and description.
