I have double checked that folder is selected for offline use and that there are no other restrictions that would prevent message download (such as file size).  Everything appears to be working but when I go offline I cannot get my messages to appear.  Also, I noted this as a major issue because I cannot work while traveling and presume others have similar issue.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.File-Offline-Work Offline
2.Download/Sync messages? Yes
3.Work offline and try and select a message
Actual Results:  
exactly what is described in Summary and Details above

Expected Results:  
shown the messages for offline use

This works for me. Do you get any errors in the Error Console? Tried with all extensions disabled, or/and with a build from

jon, this will likely be closed incomplete without additional information. But we'd very much like to address the problem with your assistance.

To add to the questions in comment 1 
- re: "locking", are menus other than message display working? i.e. are you hung?
- is CPU high, low or zero?
- can you try the current nightly, which has many fixes.
  backup your profile and make sure your mail is protected
   before using nightly available from 
    ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/nightly/latest-trunk/
