User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120121 Firefox/3.0.5 Build Identifier: As per my previous request, this box qm-codecover01 is installed with RHEL64bit OS. Looks like, I need a CentOS-5.0 32 bit OS on this box with PAE enabled to make use of full 8GB RAM. Kindly do the favor. Please look at the following link for required packages and ways to install them easily. https://wiki.mozilla.org/ReferencePlatforms/Linux-CentOS-5.0 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
CentOS 5.0 exactly, or would 5.2 work? Does this need to be an exact copy of the Linux reference platform currently used by RE, or just similar?
Perhaps it would be easier to start from a clone of the RelEng ref platform (described your link), we scrub keys and passwords you don't need, and then you go forward with PAE etc.
AFAIK, we don't have any clone image that will unroll on a DL360G5. btw, the box as built as okayed in bug 470794 comment #6.
Oh sorry, I didn't realize this was on physical hardware.
As I have already mentioned, you have done exactly as requested in the bug 470794. Unfortunately, GTK+-2.0 installation and related issues require me to use make and make install options instead of using 'yum'. So, this could be a maintenance issue for your team in the future. So, I requested to move to RE reference platform. Hope this clarifies the issue. Thanks
I can convert the box to CentOS 5 x86_64 in place without re-imaging the machine if you want. BTW, 64-bit Linux supports 16 GB of RAM natively, PAE is not required for memory access over 3.6 GB unless you're using a 32-bit kernel.
(In reply to comment #5) > Unfortunately, GTK+-2.0 installation and related issues require me to > use make and make install options instead of using 'yum'. Why do you need special GTK+ 2.0 make options? Nothing in the RE reference platform requires such a thing. Is this specific to your testing?

GTK+-2.0 RPM is not available for default install
Also note that if the box is converted to CentOS, you will have no IT support for the box. We won't be running security updates, and you'll be responsible for keeping up on those on your own. The environment used on the build machines typically don't get security updates because they're paranoid about the updates breaking things. They're also off in their own little network that's not accessible from the Internet or other Mozilla hosts.
the main dependency failure seems to be with gdk-x11-2.0
(In reply to comment #9) > GTK+-2.0 RPM is not available for default install You want `yum install gtk2-devel`.
It worked :) Do you have any trick up your sleeve for checking for gnome-vfs-2.0 >= 2.0 gnome-vfs-module-2.0 >= 2.0... checking for gconf-2.0 >= 1.2.1... checking for libgnome-2.0 >= 2.0... checking for libgnomeui-2.0 >= 2.2.0... checking for dbus-glib-1 >= 0.60... Probably need dbus-glib && dbus-glib-devel.
Excellent help so far .... :) Thanks a million.
