When gloda is doing its indexing thing, assertions related to SMIME or calendar processing have a tendency to show up.  For example, bug 379661 in the SMIME case.

These other mechanisms should not be getting a chance to look at things because they can't do anything actionable that is not annoying.  The user is not looking at the messages that are being indexed, so they don't want to be prompted about them.  The updating of UI elements for the current message (ex: the lock icon for SMIME messages) is not as annoying, but still incorrect.
