User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120121 Firefox/3.0.5 Build Identifier: 8.0.0.b5 If you reply from the mailbox window, Eudora crashes. Replying from a message window is OK. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Choose a mailbox from Mailboxes, open window 2. Point to a message 3. Hit splat-R to reply Actual Results: Crash Expected Results: Compose window. This started several days into my B5 use so it's possible something has gone wonky here. T-Bird is OK in this regard; no crashes.
I have the exact same problem in the Windows version. Only downloaded b5 a few days ago and this problem has been recurring for a few days, so it probably was like this from the start. And yes, replying from the actual message itself is fine.

I had no luck with the referenced report viewing. I put: openDialog("about:crashes"); and hit Evaluate; I get an Object chromewindow 5 back. [The 5 increments each time] Will the thunderbird.bin.crash.log help? {They don't appear to be current..}
Attached file logs of a reply crash
Dug around and found this in the Library Crash Reports directory....
in that case, what we need is from your "submitted" directory http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad#Location_of_crash_reports Mark, what do you make of comment 3 with about:crashes failing?

(In reply to comment #5) > in that case, what we need is from your "submitted" directory > http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad#Location_of_crash_reports > > Mark, what do you make of comment 3 with about:crashes failing? I get "Object chromewindow" but I also get a window opening. However we're not going to be able to do anything with any crash reports unless David can try on the latest Thunderbird builds - Penelope has no crash symbols on the server, so stacks won't be of any use.
I also experience the crash-on-reply problem. Here are the UUIDs of three crash reports from my B5 Windows installation. They are the first three that occurred after installation, all caused by replying from the Inbox context menu. 13b30eeb-4781-40e5-a539-df5f62090219 02/19/2009 12:47 6938b5bb-4abb-4e8c-ab6f-a97562090219 02/19/2009 12:42 d8e9e4e8-96eb-488a-be94-cbdca2090219 02/19/2009 12:38
unfortunately we have determined we don't have eudora symbols, so no stack. can you reproduce with beta 2 thunderbird and new profile? http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/early_releases/
beckley sez "I won't be able to generate a symbol zip until the next release (E8b6)." so, can you try thunderbird beta 1? ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/3.0b1/ (which is roughly equivalent to e8b5)
3.0b1 was & is OK. I just installed Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1b3pre) Gecko/20090223 Thunderbird/3.0b2, and it too is OK. I've changed to OSX10.5 since I filed the report but it does not seem to have altered anything.
and good results with 8.0.0b6?
Replying from the context menu with 8.0.0b6 on Windows XP and Ubuntu Hoary & Jaunty do not crash for me.
(In reply to comment #12) > and good results with 8.0.0b6? I thought that was what "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1b3pre) Gecko/20090408 Eudora/3.0b2" was..... the "8.0.0b6" label is copy-proof [cut&paste fails...].
Beta 6 seems to be working fine now in this respect (on Vista).
Seems to be working. Closing.
