Spelling checking in a text field stops after 500 misspelled words. This is quite relevant for sites such as Wikipedia, where one can edit a page without noticing spelling errors.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Type "asdf" 500 times with spelling checking turned on. All asdf's will be marked with the red line.
2. Type "asdf" once again.
3.
Actual Results:  
The 501st "asdf" is not marked with a red line.

Expected Results:  
The 501st "asdf" should be marked with a red line.

That KB policy page says that "Any functionality that is intended for end-users would not require you to close Firefox and manually edit some text file buried in a hidden directory" should not be in KB, but the help page about the spell checker already had instructions for closing Firefox and editing persdict.dat before my edit :)

(Seriously - there should be GUI for that, too.)

This can be changed in about:config. Default is 500 therefore this is not a bug.
It's supposed to be this way.

I already figured that out thanks to earlier comments. But it should be documented more clearly. I added documentation about it to the Knowledge Base, but it was deleted.

Also, i think that 500 is too low for modern times, when people edit long emails in their favorite webmail and Wikipedia articles. I am having no problems with 3000.

This is a mass search for bugs which are in the Firefox General component, are
UNCO, have not been changed for 500 days and have an unspecified version. 

Reporter, can you please update to Firefox 3.6.10 or later, create a fresh profile, http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/managing+profiles, and test again. If you still see the issue, please update this bug. If the issue is gone, please set the status to RESOLVED > WORKSFORME.

No reply from reporter, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.12 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.

To increase the number of the checked words, go to about:config > extensions.spellcheck.inline.max-misspellings and increase the value of 500. This should work.

I use Seamonkey 2.39
