There was a thread in the MZ support forum where a user deleted entries from: Bookmarks->Recently Bookmarked thinking it was similar to 'Recently used' list in Windows not realizing it would 'delete' his bookmark. I am suggesting maybe that 'delete' be removed from the context menu there, or a warning at least that 'You are about to delete this bookmark' . Though I've not testing, I suspect that Bookmarks->Recent Tags will have the same issue and just blindly delete the tag.
Btw, the user can open the Library and undo the removal.

I have added a bookmark at least 10 times and each time I open firefox, it is gone. I have had trouble with the addition or deletion of bookmarks remaining when I start a new session of Firefox, but it has not taken this long to add a bookmark before.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h". In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows: Tools | Message Filters Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New" Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h Change the action to "Delete Message". Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top. Click OK. Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter. Gerv
